The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, recently inaugurated and dedicated to the nation more than 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth over Rs. 41,000 crores. This momentous occasion took place via video conferencing, with lakhs of people connected from 500 railway stations and 1500 other venues across the country.
A Symbol of New India’s Work Culture
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized that this program is a symbol of the new work culture of New India. He highlighted the unprecedented speed and scale at which India is achieving its goals, stating, “Whatever India does today, it does it on an unprecedented speed and scale. We dream big and work tirelessly to realize them. This resolve is visible in this Viksit Bharat Viksit Railway program.”
Mega Transformation of Railway Infrastructure
The Prime Minister commended the massive scale of the railway infrastructure projects, which have gained unprecedented momentum in recent times. He mentioned the expansion of education and health sector infrastructure in Jammu and Gujarat, as well as the ongoing revamp of 550 stations in 12 states across 300 districts.
The redevelopment of Gomti Nagar railway station in Uttar Pradesh and the construction of over 1500 road over bridges and underpasses were also highlighted as examples of the ambition and resolve of New India.
Empowering the Youth and Creating Employment Opportunities
Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the role of the youth in shaping the future of Viksit Bharat. He stated, “Youth have the maximum right to decide how Viksit Bharat will unfold.” He expressed his gratitude towards the youth for their contributions and assured them that their dreams and hard work, combined with the Prime Minister’s resolve, will guarantee the progress of Viksit Bharat.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that the development projects launched on this day will not only create employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth but also benefit students studying in schools.
Amrit Bharat Stations: Symbols of Development and Heritage
Prime Minister Modi congratulated the citizens of India for the railway projects and specially congratulated the youth for their involvement in the development projects. He highlighted the upcoming Amrit Bharat stations, which will serve as symbols of both development (vikas) and heritage (virasat).
These stations will showcase the local culture and architecture of various regions in India. For example, the Baleshwar station in Odisha is designed on the theme of the Bhagwan Jagannath Temple, while Sikkim’s Rangpur station will reflect local architectural influences. Each station will have its unique design, representing the rich heritage of the region.
Achievements in Railway Infrastructure
The Prime Minister underscored the significant progress made in railway infrastructure over the past decade. He highlighted the modernization of semi high-speed trains like Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat, and Namo Bharat, as well as the rapid electrification of rail lines and improved cleanliness on trains and station platforms.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted that unmanned gates have become commonplace in Indian railways, ensuring uninterrupted and accident-free movement. He also mentioned that railway stations now offer modern facilities similar to those found in airports, making travel more comfortable and convenient for the poor and middle class.
